Musical Direction – Evan Ambrose
Born and raised in the Nordic forest of Sweden on small crop of land called Sollerön – known as the Island of the Sun – Winona Oak is every bit as enchanting as her origin story. With a childhood spent encountering more animals than people, she grew up a trained horse acrobat alongside pursuits of creative expression through poetry, songwriting, violin and piano. After moving to Stockholm to pursue her passion for music, a leap of faith to attend Neon Gold Records ́ writing retreat in the Nicuaraguan jungle in 2017 connected her with Australian electronic maestro What So Not, which yielded multiple successful collaborations including her featured artist debut on his 2018 single “Beautiful”. She closed out that year with her biggest writing credit and feature to date on The Chainsmokers ́ “Hope”, which to date has amassed over 400M global streams and RIAA Gold-certification in the USA. 2019 brought with it the release of her debut single as lead artist, “He Don't Love Me”, through Neon Gold / Atlantic Records. Winona released her debut EP, CLOSURE in early 2020. Less than a year on from its release, CLOSURE already boasts 40M global streams and led to a “Future Artist of the Year” nomination for Winona at the P3 Gold awards, the biggest music award show in Sweden. Stepping out further with her latest superstar collab on Robin Schulz’s new single, “Oxygen”, and more marquee features and a second EP of her own on the way, 2021 looks set to be the year of Winona Oak.
